Watching the dress rehearsal for We Need a Little Christmas, an original festive cabaret brought to the stage by the multi-award winning Lowestoft Players, it’s almost impossible to believe that it was only agreed to perform the show just 10 weeks ago.

Within that time the production team of six held auditions, decided upon the content and sourced appropriate costumes.
“Fortunately, the cast are all seasoned performers“ Nick Garrod, Chair of The Lowestoft Players told us.
“That’s been really helpful as due to other commitments it was only possible to schedule 14 rehearsals!” He added.
Although it’s a festive show, the production includes a mixture of 30 festive and West End numbers – some with new musical arrangements. It also has comedy skits, seasonal readings and even a spot of magic.

The technical team for We Need a Little Christmas have worked hard in a short space of time to create amazing staging for this festive treat.
“We have a four metre high, fully lit tree and a curved set of steps which were previously used for the musical Cocoacabana. The steps were made in two parts and it took eight of us to lift each heavy part onto the stage” explained Ryan Takman, who has led the technical team for the production.
“During the two hour show there will be 150 different lighting cues which took over 12 long hours to programe. We even have four mirror balls to provide that extra Christmas twinkle” said Ryan.

We Need a Little Christmas will open this evening (Wednesday 7 December) and will run until Sunday (11 December) with weekend matinee shows.
