Founded in 1967 and with many award-winning productions to their name, The Lowestoft Players are one of East Anglia's premier amateur theatre groups.
For over 50 years the society has been performing pantomimes, musicals, plays and revues to packed audiences from across the region.
The society usually performs two musicals, one play/revue and one pantomime per year. These productions are performed at 'The Marina Theatre', or at our own intimate 200 seater theatre 'The Players Theatre' which also doubles up as our own rehearsal and social venue.
The society currently has over 100 active members who all contribute in their own way, either on the stage, behind the scenes or helping with social activities.
We have members from all across the local area and we always welcome new members aged 16 and above. In pantomimes and some musicals, junior members are required. Separate auditions are held for junior members. For details on upcoming auditons please check our Facebook page.

BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER!
The society always welcomes new members. We are always looking for people with either singing or acting ability, but we would like to express, however, that no previous experience is necessary. Helping create a musical, a pantomime or a play is a grand way to spend your time.
To be part of a show in any capacity, is exciting and rewarding and you will find we are a very friendly and encouraging set of people.
OR
Why not join our team of backstage helpers, our front of house staff, our wardrobe department or Players Theatre staff.
Theatre is a marvellous way of spending your spare time.
Performing
If you feel you have any acting, dancing, singing or musical ability, why not audition for one of our future productions?
Details of audition dates for our future productions will be posted on this website, as well as appearing in the local press and our show programmes.
In the main, rehearsals are held at our new headquarters at THE BETHEL, Battery Green Road, just round the corner from the Marina Theatre on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
For further information please call the Lowestoft Players headquarters on 01502 563614.
But it doesen't all take place on the stage!
Without scenery, props, costumes, a backstage and front of house team, a production doesn't get onto the stage.
The Lowestoft Players are always looking for assistance in all of these areas. Even if you feel you can't act or sing you could still be of great benefit to the Lowestoft Players and our future productions.
Scenery and Props
Whilst the main set for each production is usually hired, some of our members spend their time making props for our forthcoming productions. You don't need to be an expert to join in as help is always on hand.
Costumes and Wardrobe
Our pantomimes and musicals have always been praised for their colourful and outrageous costumes, which have usually been made in-house by a small group of dedicated and very talented members, who meet Monday and Friday evenings.
If you can use a needle and thread, and can spare a few hours each week to help make costumes for our future shows then contact Diana Richards via our web site contact section. She and her team will have you in stitches in no time!
Backstage
The cast of all our pantomimes and musicals depend on a reliable backstage team, who under the direction of a stage manager, control the scene changes, lighting, sound, props, continuity and special effects!
Front Of House
As a society we are very fortunate to have a very loyal band of members who help us with various front of house duties and most importantly ensure that our audience's visit to the theatre is an enjoyable and memorable one. As well as our own productions we also require a friendly team to assist with events and performances at the 'Players Theatre'. We are always looking for new members to join the team.
