The winter months can sometimes be a little dull but it’s anything but dull at the Players Theatre, Lowestoft, also Britain’s most Easterly Theatre. A host of incoming acts have been booked to perform at the town centre theatre whilst we the Lowestoft Players, who own the building, are rehearsing for our next production.
“Normally the Theatre would be a little quiet at this time of the year” said Ryan Takman, member of the Lowestoft Players who has the responsibility for theatre scheduling. “To keep the Theatre alive and buzzing until we perform our production of Beauty and the Beast in May we’ve booked an amazing variety of incoming acts with something suitable for all ages and tastes.”
Last Saturday (5 February) the Theatre was alive with a Billy Fury meets Elvis music tribute act. Over 140 people attended.
Barbara Smith who visited the Theatre from Gorleston said “This is my first visit to the Players Theatre and I loved it. I’ve had a great evening and I’ll definitely be returning.”
Also coming up is the return of Comedy Hotspot with popular comedians John Mann, Matt Bragg, George Zak and JoJo Sutherland performing live on Saturday 19 February.
“Utilising our wonderful Theatre for these shows helps us to raise money to further develop the building” added Ryan “so we really hope that the local community will support these events.”
Other upcoming acts include Britcom - a British Comedy Tribute, The Ben Langley Show, the Mumford & Sons Experience, The Tom Petty Legacy, The Hijacked Hollies, Yesterday Once More - A Tribute to the Carpenters, Turn it on Again UK: The Genesis Experience, Bob Floyd: A Pink Floyd Live Experience. Plus from 12 to 17 April 2022 the B&B Young People's Theatre Group will be performing Shrek the Musical - we are particularly excited about that!
Please visit the Players Theatre website for ticket information and to see a full list of performances - www.playerstheatre.info or telephone the Box Office on 01502 770020.
