24th February 2011: Players take part in Festival 2011

Exciting news The Lowetoft Players have been asked to perform at the St Peters & St Johns Church festival on Saturday 25th June 2011. This is an annual event and it attracts large audience's. The theme for the festival focuses on local theatre groups and is a celebration of the talented performers we have living in our own local community.

Karen Carter and Bob McNeil Watson are putting together a repertoire of some of the West Ends most popular shows, both old and new, and will also include some songs from the Players past productions.

This will be an opportunity for members old and new to perform some exciting numbers in groups, solos, duets and of course full company ensemble. This once again is open to all members of the society, there are no auditions if you wish to be part of the company everyone is welcome. However for those who would like to perform a solo, duet etc there we will be an audition process but again open to everyone who is a member of the society or anyone who would like to join us for the first time.

Rehearsals will take place every Friday evening starting on Friday 11th March at The Bethel, with a break during the run of Annie Get Your Gun. A early evening rehearsal on a Sunday at the Church is also being arranged and will be confirmed later.

For all those wishing to perform a solo, duet, or group number, auditions for this will be on Monday 14th March 7-30 at The Bethel. To collect audition music please call me 01502 531279, here is a list of the audition songs for male & female's.

Popular, Defying Gravity ( from Wicked) Agony (from Into the Woods) Tell MeIt's Not True (from Blood Brothers) One Day More - various voices required (from Les Mis) Send in the Clowns (from A Little Night Music), also from this show solo voice's for Weekend In The Country, Love Changes Everything (from Aspects of Love) If Ever I Would Leave You (from Camelot) Chuchee Face (from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) Underneath the Arches (from same show) There are other songs but we feel the selection listed will be enough. You do not have to sing all of these just select what you feel would suit you best and we will do the rest.

If you would like to be involved with this production then please let Karen Carter know via email or call on 01502 531279.

1st February 2011: Robin Hood - Box Office Record Breaker!

12th November 2010: Press Release 'Robin Hood Comes To

                                         Lowestoft'

Robin Hood Prince of Sherwood is coming to The Marina Theatre, Lowestoft as the award-winning Lowestoft Players announce their pantomime for January 2011.

The pantomime, which is a brand new production for the society, will see a host of characters including the loveable rogue and hero Robin Hood, feisty damsel Maid Marion, the loveable Will Scarlett and not forgetting the hilarious Dame Tuck.

With 9 performances from Saturday 22nd to Sunday 30th January, this pantomime promises to be full of magical songs, fabulous costumes and never before seen special effects!

Robin Hood Prince of Sherwood also sees a line up of local talent with Lee Nevill taking on his first leading panto man: “I am really excited to be playing the part of Robin. I have been involved in many Lowestoft Players productions before, taking on different character roles but this is my first appearance as a leading man in panto.”

Lee, who works as a lecturer for Lowestoft College, joined the society back in 1991 for Oliver! playing the part of the Artful Dodger. In more recent years he has been involved in Players’ shows such as West Side Story, in which he played the role of Bernardo, Simple Simon in Jack and the Beanstalk and Roddy O’Neill in the 70’s smash hit musical Boogie Nights.

“I enjoy taking on roles which include a bit of comedy and Robin is just the part! He is cheeky and arrogant but also a true romantic when it comes to wooing Maid Marion!”

With the matinee performance on Saturday 29th January already sold out, and only 9 performances in total, audiences are encouraged to book their tickets now to avoid disappointment.

“Robin Hood Prince of Sherwood is set to be the best Lowestoft Players pantomime yet. Thanks to the recently released film and television series, this pantomime is going to appeal to boys and girls’ young and old!” explains Director John Marjoram.

Tickets are available from The Marina Theatre box office on 01502 533200 or for party bookings of 10 or more tickets, contact the party booking line on 01502 569730 or 01502 531279.
